Jose Benavidez Jr. Wants To Be In The Conversation Of Welterweight Champions

Expectations have always been high for former interim welterweight champion Jose Benavidez Jr. (24-0, 16 KOs). At age 16, he was the youngest ever Golden Gloves Champion. As a result, he was granted a license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission at 17. Today, he’s promoted by Top Rank and trained by the venerable Freddie Roach. At 24, Jose’s skills are still developing. Few can match the natural ability of the Arizona native who has been known to confuse opponents by switching to southpaw in the middle of a fight.

Over the past two years, Benavidez has experienced a string of roadblocks causing the boxing world to question his ability to live up to all that potential.
